How is Juno Baby different and better?
For one, the music! Unlike competitors who use electronic sounds to mimic classical music, Juno Baby's music is live and performed by actual orchestral musicians. All of the original music is the creation of award-winning composer and educator, Belinda Takahashi, Ph.D., who has parlayed her classical training and musical expertise into fostering an early appreciation of music by creating pieces that are sophisticated yet fun. Both children AND parents will find themselves humming the catchy songs sung by the Juno Baby cast characters!
Second, the content!. All of the content of Juno Baby was based on a study published in the American Behavioral Scientist which suggests that programs where "characters speak directly to the child, actively elicit participation, label objects, and provide opportunities to respond, were positively related to expressive language production and vocabulary." To ensure that our content was as strong as possible, we hired one of the researchers from that study as a script consultant for our Juno Baby series. With each DVD, we include language tracks in English, French, and Spanish. In addition, we include interactive features and language flash cards.
Third, the puppets! Performed by alumnae of Fraggle Rock, the Juno Baby cast is a crew of adorable and quirky characters that have a knack for talking to tots in a manner and language they can easily understand and relate to. At the same time, the characters also involve little viewers by eliciting responses, thus enhancing their communication and vocabulary skills.
