Belinda Takahashi, Ph.D., Co-Founder
Dr. Belinda Takahashi's life has been one completely immersed in the arts.
Raised in Manhattan, she was the daughter of a dancer and artist. She began ballet at the age of three, trained as a concert pianist and by the age of eight was concertizing throughout the city. By age 10 she was engaged in formal composition study which led to numerous performances and awards. Although accepted to the prestigious Manhattan School of Music for voice, Belinda chose to attend Oberlin Conservatory where she first majored in piano and composition and later chose to focus fully on composition.
Belinda received her M.M. and Ph.D. at the University of Rochester's esteemed Eastman School of Music – the number one ranked music school in the country. Out of hundreds of the most qualified applicants around the world, she was awarded the sole spot for the full graduate fellowship.
She has studied with many distinguished artists including several Pulitzer Prize winners. Her compositions have won numerous prizes and accolades including countless ASCAP awards and have been performed throughout the United States and Canada with performances at Carnegie Recital Hall. She has been commissioned extensively by many artists and organizations including the Institute for American Music and Meet the Composer's New Music for Schools Program.
Recently, Dr. Takahashi was commissioned by the New Jersey Music
Teachers National Association when she was chosen as the 2002 MTNA composer
of the year for the state of New Jersey and asked to judge their annual
piano competition in which competitors performed her music.
She has taught Music Composition and Theory at the Eastman
School of Music, the University of Rochester, Drake University, Montclair
State University, and was Artist-in-Residence at the Ballard Community
Schools in Iowa. Her success in teaching earned her Sigma Alpha Iota's
"Friend of the Arts" Award and two nominations for the Outstanding Teaching
Prize at the Eastman School of Music.
Belinda continues to lecture on music and her latest project
has been to score three short independent films that are currently being
shown in film festivals across the United States. Her proudest achievement,
however, has been becoming a mother to her amazing daughter, Juno.
Adam Benjamin Adelman, Co-Founder
Although Adam is no stranger to the business world, he is brand new to
the baby business.
A graduate of Miami University of Ohio and NYU's Stern School of Business,
Adam has been working as an Investment Banking Trader and Senior Equity
Analyst in New York and Paris for the past seven years.
His business acumen was quickly acknowledged by publications such as
The Wall Street Journal, Upside Magazine, CNN Money, and La Tribune, which
often turn to him for insight and opinions on the financial markets.
When Adam and Belinda discovered they were pregnant with their first
child, Adam could not contain himself from getting his hands on every
type of baby development product out there. Still, he couldn't help but
find something lacking with each of them. Not content to settle for the
uninspired videos they saw on the market, Adam and Belinda set off to
make their own.
Through both Belinda's unmatched background in music composition and
education and Adam's ability to make cartoon voices and love of singing
for his daughter, Juno Baby was born.
